Who we are
Smart Initiatives Uganda is a nationally-registered mission-driven non profit organization. We were founded by two Ugandan women and two Americans who saw critical gaps in the local Ugandan communities - children whose families were unable to afford tuition, refugee families with no access to fresh food, and inadequate school infrastructure.
Instead of watching these problems persist, they built an organization dedicated to practical support of education sponsorship, school gardens, nutrition programs for homeless children, and the construction of safe spaces for children.
From its beginnings in Mbarara and surrounding settlements, Smart Initiatives Uganda has grown into a movement - led by Ugandans, powered by partnerships, and driven by the belief that everyone deserves a fair chance.
