Education Support
Our goal is to support vulnerable children by paying their school fees in order provide them with a quality education. By increasing access to education, we provide opportunities for disadvantaged children. Providing school fees has a direct impact on the reduction of dropout rates. Children who are educated have improved economic opportunities and greater confidence. Education also has a direct impact on breaking intergenerational poverty. We accomplish these goals thanks to donations we receive from willing people.

School Garden Program
We have provided thousand of packets of vegetable seeds to refugee schools and individual refugees. When children acquire the skills to grow quality food, the benefits are lifelong and enhance their resilience. By supporting the refugee schools and those families and individuals living in refugee settlements, we are helping improve their nutrition, food security, and income generation.

Nutrition Program
In Mbarara, where we are located, and surrounding areas there are hundreds of street children, mostly orphans and abandoned children, many of them shoeless and in ragged clothes, who wander throughout the day in search of food or money. Our mission is to provide nutritious meals on a regular basis to as many of them as possible.

Safe Spaces Fund
We work in areas where schools often operate without adequate facilities to safely support their students. Classrooms, gathering areas, and meal spaces are often overcrowded, exposed to the elements, or missing entirely. Smart Initiatives Uganda works alongside refugee settlements and local communities to build and improve spaces where children can learn, gather, and receive meals in a safe and dignified environment. Through projects like the covered meal hall at the Kajaho School for students who are deaf or special needs, we help ensure that learning and nourishment take place in spaces designed to protect and support every child.
